As of 1 January 2026, PIC/S standards are officially in force for Belgian hospital pharmacies. These international guidelines are designed to ensure the quality, safety and traceability of pharmaceutical compounding and are now part of daily practice.
This obligation is defined in the Royal Decree of 30 September 2020, regulating the preparation and dispensing of medicinal products within healthcare institutions.
